ccc.usccb.org/cccradio/NABPodcasts/2020/2020-07-31“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and in his own house.”
And he did not work many mighty deeds there
because of their lack of faith.

Who is a Prophet ? A Prophet is the one who proclaim or represent or ambassador of Gods love. God or Gods love lives among us and with us and in us but  we seek him everywhere except in our own family  and in our self. God is love and he lives with us in our daily routine and with people whom we interact daily and often in our lives. If we reject or take offense on these people or our daily routine or circumstances then we reject God or Gods love or Holy spirit in our lives.

God or Gods love is not  imaginary or superficial and can not be attained by meditating or chanting some verses or  Rituals or Sacrifices  but these things point us or enlighten us  or show a way to encounter God in our daily life. Faith is Human Divine Relationship , if our faith is only superficial and not active then this kind of faith does not produce love. When we recognize or realize our faith in action in our daily life and actions , a miracle takes place in our families.

We hear many people complaining , saying we have done hundred Retreats and in the the renewal or living a life pleasing to God for last 25 years but there is no transformation of our family or there is no ministry emerged from us or there are no miracles taking place when we preach or teach or live our life. The main reason for this spirituality is they live in a fancy  imaginary Spiritual World of Ferries and angels around them and a big horned devil fighting against them and there is big war happening in their imaginary mind. Their prayers and intercessions are based on these imaginative figures but in reality these figures do not exist but only a imagination. Who is Holy spirit , Holy spirit is love of God and love of God is not an imagination but a solid reality.

St. Ignatius of Loyola  comes up with a Ignatian Spirituality which gives us opportunity to reflect in thoughts and promptings led by actions positive or negative. The positive promptings or thoughts  which build goodness and love which is called the Good Spirit, and Negative promptings   which destroys or goes against love and goodness is called Evil Spirit. In our lives there is a Warfare between our choices and wills and priorities   because there is a physical warfare happening in our daily life , among our family , friends and work places. If we choose Gods love as our Will or choices or priorities then we accept him in our lives practically and then miracles and ministries emerge from our own family.

Superficial and ritualistic Spirituality takes us away from God because when we encounter God in our daily life , we do not recognise him because we have made wrong image of God or Gods love or Holyspirit or Jesus in our lives. This is idol Worship , people of other religion have done this through their imaginations and carved imaginative figures and started worshiping them. The superficial fanatics have written Novels and inspirations and meditations and these Superficial imaginative work have emerged as big World religions of our time.   The Natives of Jesus had the same Superficial and ritualistic image of God in them and rejected the Words of Gods love which could give them and teach them to live a life of love.  St. Ignatius of Loyola lived a life giving glory to God in each and every activity of his life by choosing Gods love as his choice and decision. Let us ponder on his Spirituality and make him a model who can inspire us to recognise the real image of God in our lives.

Prayer : Lord transform us to recognize your real image of love in our lives Amen.

Love is the main Priority over all other Priorities of our life.

Today’s Readings:Jeremiah 15:10, 16-21
Ps 59:2-4, 10-11, 17-18
John 11:19-27 or Luke 10:38-42
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her.

What is Repentance ? What is doing God’s Will?  What is believing Jesus Christ? What is loving God ? What is loving our Neighbor ? What is Salvation ? What is Baptism ? What is Ecumenism ? What are Beatitudes ? What is Gospel ? What are Commandments? What is the Word of God? What is Bible? What is Christianity? What is humanity? What is  Charity? What is inter religious Dialogue? What is Social Work?

The Answer to all the above questions  is in  only one Word and that is ” LOVE”. Love is the key to open every answer in this World. We can use this key everywhere, with all kind of people and it works . Love is not an human activity but human divinity.  Human Beings have misinterpreted the meaning of Gods love and engaged in many activities in their life, calling themselves as servants of love. The simple definition of love is” giving “in the human context , if our activity is not involved in the giving but if there is any other motive then it is not called giving but receiving or expecting, this is not love at all.

If a mother gives herself to make her Children  of giving or Charity then her Sacrifice is called love but if a mother sacrifices her life for her Children to make them children of the World , then it is a clear indication that her love for her children is selfish because she expects something from those Children or she has misinterpreted the love of God in to Worldly love.  This is the case in every relationship or activity of our life.  If our motive is not giving but receiving then we miss the target to love and fall in to SIN. SIN is opposite of love , SIN is when we say I do not love you in any activity of our life. When we refuse to love in our life , we offend Love and Love is God himself.

We are involved in many things of this World but if these very things do not contribute to build others life in love and charity then our involvement ,how big it may look like or if we have sacrificed our whole life for it , it is big waste of time or it is like  wasting time in gathering the rubbish in our life which will rot and decay and not useful in any way . I remember the story of a Goan fisher Man.

Once a tourist met a fisherman on the coast of Goa.

Looking at the type of fish he had caught, the tourist asked him how long it took him to catch them.

“Not very long,” answered the fisherman.

“But then, why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more?” asked the tourist.

The fisherman explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.

The tourist asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?

“I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, spend time with my family and friends.”

The tourist interrupted, “I have an MBA from IIM-A, and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.”

“And after that?” asked the fisherman.

“With the extra money, the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to some other city. From there you can direct your huge new enterprise.”

“How long would that take?” asked the fisherman.

“Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years,” replied the tourist.

“And after that?”

“Afterwards? Well my friend, That’s when it gets really interesting,” chuckled the tourist, “When your business gets really big, you can start selling stocks and make millions!”

“Millions? Really? And after that?” asked the fisherman.

“After that you’ll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, spend time with your friends and family”

“With all due respect sir, but that’s exactly what I am doing now. So what’s the point wasting 25 Years?” asked the fisherman.

The moral of the story is we in a rat race in which we neither have a purpose  nor we understand the purpose of life. My Friends there is only one purpose in life is to give love and live for love and rest all is secondary in life. When we live our life on supporting functions like money and education and not on main function of love then the main function of love or the Spirit of God missing in our life.

In today’s Gospel Martha was involved in the secondary or supporting functions like hospitality but what God wants in our life  is to listen to the love of God and reflect on it and live a life of Love and Charity.

The Image of Gods love in Christians and Non Christians.

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 26, 2020

Today’s Readings:1 Kings 3:5, 7-12
Ps 119:57, 72, 76-77, 127-130
Romans 8:28-30
Matthew 13:44-52
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household
who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.”

God first loved his people by creating them in his likeness and image of his love.  Before the foundation of the World God has a plan for every human according to his purpose. Due to the rebelliousness to God’s love , man entered in to a rebellious nature and was not able to look and reflect God’s  image of love in him and others. Every Human possess God’s image by default in his personality. This personality of love is the Conscience of Man which speaks in inner voice of his heart to love . This image of love is the Holy spirit  and  every Human possess despite of his Religion or  state of life or background because every human is a design of Gods love. All Humans were suppose to be a part and  purpose of Gods salvation on this Earth to build the Kingdom of love on this Earth.

Rebelliousness or offence or unfaithfulness to Gods love brings misunderstanding to Gods love. The true understanding of heart brings Wisdom . The realization or revelation to human heart  that God is love is the true understanding of heart which King Solomon received in the first reading. St. Paul says  all things work for good for those who love God,who are called according to his purpose”. The misunderstanding of our heart prompts us not to accept God as love and we are made unique and special to carry out the plan of God as Children of  God. The true understanding of Heart makes us to realize that God is love and he has created us in love and to love one another. If we make love as purpose of our life , all things work out for our good because we have nothing to lose in this World because we do not hold or possess the material things. The only purpose of Gods Creation is love and love and love, nothing else.

When a person understand Gods love in his heart and others , He detests his heart from the flesh, World and Evil and puts his heart to love God by realizing Gods love  in his heart.He also realizes that he has been made in his image and loves others who are made similarly like him in Gods image. This understanding of the Heart is the true Wisdom  one seeks God and purpose or will of God in their life. Jesus came in to this World to recreate this love through a new  first fruit  and cultivate this love of God through the outpouring of the Holy spirit upon those accepted his message of love, the Gospel. This is new Creation or we can call these people Christians who are born through the Holy-spirit.

A true Scribe or a true man of Wisdom is one who accepts from the old image of God and new image of Jesus Christ. This statement tells us not to reject any person in this World but receive them from the hands of God or our extended family and love all followers of Christ as the immediate family . Jesus as the first born and eldest brother  and we are his brothers and sisters . An elder or a true  Community must accept all people of this World from the old image of Gods love  as Creation of God and bring them in to the new  image understanding of Gods love Jesus Christ.

Pope Francis in  Abudhabi  brings the old and new together by signing an important document on  Human Fraternity for World Peace and living together and becomes a true Elder in the Catholic household . Let us also become  a true elder in our household by loving our own family and everyone else as our extended family despite of their Religion, status, Co lour or even sinfulness and teach our community and Children to do the same like Pope Francis.

Prayer : Lord Jesus , we may see your love in us and others Amen.

Faith leads a believer to see in the other a brother or sister to be supported and loved. Through faith in God, who has created the universe, creatures and all human beings (equal on account of his mercy), believers are called to express this human fraternity by safeguarding creation and the entire universe and supporting all persons, especially the poorest and those most in need.

This transcendental value served as the starting point for several meetings characterized by a friendly and fraternal atmosphere where we shared the joys, sorrows and problems of our contemporary world. We did this by considering scientific and technical progress, therapeutic achievements, the digital era, the mass media and communications. We reflected also on the level of poverty, conflict and suffering of so many brothers and sisters in different parts of the world as a consequence of the arms race, social injustice, corruption, inequality, moral decline, terrorism, discrimination, extremism and many other causes.

From our fraternal and open discussions, and from the meeting that expressed profound hope in a bright future for all human beings, the idea of this Document on Human Fraternity was conceived. It is a text that has been given honest and serious thought so as to be a joint declaration of good and heartfelt aspirations. It is a document that invites all persons who have faith in God and faith in human fraternity to unite and work together so that it may serve as a guide for future generations to advance a culture of mutual respect in the awareness of the great divine grace that makes all human beings brothers and

In the name of God who has created all human beings equal in rights, duties and dignity, and who has called them to live together as brothers and sisters, to fill the earth and make known the values of goodness, love and peace;

In the name of innocent human life that God has forbidden to kill, affirming that whoever kills a person is like one who kills the whole of humanity, and that whoever saves a person is like one who saves the whole of humanity;

In the name of the poor, the destitute, the marginalized and those most in need whom God has commanded us to help as a duty required of all persons, especially the wealthy and of means;

In the name of orphans, widows, refugees and those exiled from their homes and their countries; in the name of all victims of wars, persecution and injustice; in the name of the weak, those who live in fear, prisoners of war and those tortured in any part of the world, without distinction;

In the name of peoples who have lost their security, peace, and the possibility of living together, becoming victims of destruction, calamity and war;

In the name of human fraternity that embraces all human beings, unites them and renders them equal;

In the name of this fraternity torn apart by policies of extremism and division, by systems of unrestrained profit or by hateful ideological tendencies that manipulate the actions and the future of men and women;

In the name of freedom, that God has given to all human beings creating them free and distinguishing them by this gift;

In the name of justice and mercy, the foundations of prosperity and the cornerstone of faith;

In the name of all persons of good will present in every part of the world;

In the name of God and of everything stated thus far; Al-Azhar al-Sharif and the Muslims of the East and West, together with the Catholic Church and the Catholics of the East and West, declare the adoption of a culture of dialogue as the path; mutual cooperation as the code of conduct; reciprocal understanding as the method and standard.

We, who believe in God and in the final meeting with Him and His judgment, on the basis of our religious and moral responsibility, and through this Document, call upon ourselves, upon the leaders of the world as well as the architects of international policy and world economy, to work strenuously to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace; to intervene at the earliest opportunity to stop the shedding of innocent blood and bring an end to wars, conflicts, environmental decay and the moral and cultural decline that the world is presently experiencing.

We call upon intellectuals, philosophers, religious figures, artists, media professionals and men and women of culture in every part of the world, to rediscover the values of peace, justice, goodness, beauty, human fraternity and coexistence in order to confirm the importance of these values as anchors of salvation for all, and to promote them everywhere.

This Declaration, setting out from a profound consideration of our contemporary reality, valuing its successes and in solidarity with its suffering, disasters and calamities, believes firmly that among the most important causes of the crises of the modern world are a desensitized human conscience, a distancing from religious values and a prevailing individualism accompanied by materialistic philosophies that deify the human person and introduce worldly and material values in place of supreme and transcendental principles.

While recognizing the positive steps taken by our modern civilization in the fields of science, technology, medicine, industry and welfare, especially in developed countries, we wish to emphasize that, associated with such historic advancements, great and valued as they are, there exists both a moral deterioration that influences international action and a weakening of spiritual values and responsibility. All this contributes to a general feeling of frustration, isolation and desperation leading many to fall either into a vortex of atheistic, agnostic or religious extremism, or into blind and fanatic extremism, which ultimately encourage forms of dependency and individual or collective self-destruction.

History shows that religious extremism, national extremism and also intolerance have produced in the world, be it in the East or West, what might be referred to as signs of a “third world war being fought piecemeal”. In several parts of the world and in many tragic circumstances these signs have begun to be painfully apparent, as in those situations where the precise number of victims, widows and orphans is unknown. We see, in addition, other regions preparing to become theatres of new conflicts, with outbreaks of tension and a build-up of arms and ammunition, and all this in a global context overshadowed by uncertainty, disillusionment, fear of the future, and controlled by narrow-minded economic interests.

We likewise affirm that major political crises, situations of injustice and lack of equitable distribution of natural resources – which only a rich minority benefit from, to the detriment of the majority of the peoples of the earth – have generated, and continue to generate, vast numbers of poor, infirm and deceased persons. This leads to catastrophic crises that various countries have fallen victim to despite their natural resources and the resourcefulness of young people which characterize these nations. In the face of such crises that result in the deaths of millions of children – wasted away from poverty and hunger – there is an unacceptable silence on the international level.

It is clear in this context how the family as the fundamental nucleus of society and humanity is essential in bringing children into the world, raising them, educating them, and providing them with solid moral formation and domestic security. To attack the institution of the family, to regard it with contempt or to doubt its important role, is one of the most threatening evils of our era.

We affirm also the importance of awakening religious awareness and the need to revive this awareness in the hearts of new generations through sound education and an adherence to moral values and upright religious teachings. In this way we can confront tendencies that are individualistic, selfish, conflicting, and also address radicalism and blind extremism in all its forms and expressions.

The first and most important aim of religions is to believe in God, to honour Him and to invite all men and women to believe that this universe depends on a God who governs it. He is the Creator who has formed us with His divine wisdom and has granted us the gift of life to protect it. It is a gift that no one has the right to take away, threaten or manipulate to suit oneself. Indeed, everyone must safeguard this gift of life from its beginning up to its natural end. We therefore condemn all those practices that are a threat to life such as genocide, acts of terrorism, forced displacement, human organ trafficking, abortion and euthanasia. We likewise condemn the policies that promote these practices.

Moreover, we resolutely declare that religions must never incite war, hateful attitudes, hostility and extremism, nor must they incite violence or the shedding of blood. These tragic realities are the consequence of a deviation from religious teachings. They result from a political manipulation of religions and from interpretations made by religious groups who, in the course of history, have taken advantage of the power of religious sentiment in the hearts of men and women in order to make them act in a way that has nothing to do with the truth of religion. This is done for the purpose of achieving objectives that are political, economic, worldly and short-sighted. We thus call upon all concerned to stop using religions to incite hatred, violence, extremism and blind fanaticism, and to refrain from using the name of God to justify acts of murder, exile, terrorism and oppression. We ask this on the basis of our common belief in God who did not create men and women to be killed or to fight one another, nor to be tortured or humiliated in their lives and circumstances. God, the Almighty, has no need to be defended by anyone and does not want His name to be used to terrorize people.

This Document, in accordance with previous International Documents that have emphasized the importance of the role of religions in the construction of world peace, upholds the following:

– The firm conviction that authentic teachings of religions invite us to remain rooted in the values of peace; to defend the values of mutual understanding, human fraternity and harmonious coexistence; to re-establish wisdom, justice and love; and to reawaken religious awareness among young people so that future generations may be protected from the realm of materialistic thinking and from dangerous policies of unbridled greed and indifference that are based on the law of force and not on the force of law;

– Freedom is a right of every person: each individual enjoys the freedom of belief, thought, expression and action. The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings. This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives. Therefore, the fact that people are forced to adhere to a certain religion or culture must be rejected, as too the imposition of a cultural way of life that others do not accept;

– Justice based on mercy is the path to follow in order to achieve a dignified life to which every human being has a right;

– Dialogue, understanding and the widespread promotion of a culture of tolerance, acceptance of others and of living together peacefully would contribute significantly to reducing many economic, social, political and environmental problems that weigh so heavily on a large part of humanity;

– Dialogue among believers means coming together in the vast space of spiritual, human and shared social values and, from here, transmitting the highest moral virtues that religions aim for. It also means avoiding unproductive discussions;

– The protection of places of worship – synagogues, churches and mosques – is a duty guaranteed by religions, human values, laws and international agreements. Every attempt to attack places of worship or threaten them by violent assaults, bombings or destruction, is a deviation from the teachings of religions as well as a clear violation of international law;

– Terrorism is deplorable and threatens the security of people, be they in the East or the West, the North or the South, and disseminates panic, terror and pessimism, but this is not due to religion, even when terrorists instrumentalize it. It is due, rather, to an accumulation of incorrect interpretations of religious texts and to policies linked to hunger, poverty, injustice, oppression and pride. This is why it is so necessary to stop supporting terrorist movements fuelled by financing, the provision of weapons and strategy, and by attempts to justify these movements even using the media. All these must be regarded as international crimes that threaten security and world peace. Such terrorism must be condemned in all its forms and expressions;

– The concept of citizenship is based on the equality of rights and duties, under which all enjoy justice. It is therefore crucial to establish in our societies the concept of full citizenship and reject the discriminatory use of the term minorities which engenders feelings of isolation and inferiority. Its misuse paves the way for hostility and discord; it undoes any successes and takes away the religious and civil rights of some citizens who are thus discriminated against;

– Good relations between East and West are indisputably necessary for both. They must not be neglected, so that each can be enriched by the other’s culture through fruitful exchange and dialogue. The West can discover in the East remedies for those spiritual and religious maladies that are caused by a prevailing materialism. And the East can find in the West many elements that can help free it from weakness, division, conflict and scientific, technical and cultural decline. It is important to pay attention to religious, cultural and historical differences that are a vital component in shaping the character, culture and civilization of the East. It is likewise important to reinforce the bond of fundamental human rights in order to help ensure a dignified life for all the men and women of East and West, avoiding the politics of double standards;

– It is an essential requirement to recognize the right of women to education and employment, and to recognize their freedom to exercise their own political rights. Moreover, efforts must be made to free women from historical and social conditioning that runs contrary to the principles of their faith and dignity. It is also necessary to protect women from sexual exploitation and from being treated as merchandise or objects of pleasure or financial gain. Accordingly, an end must be brought to all those inhuman and vulgar practices that denigrate the dignity of women. Efforts must be made to modify those laws that prevent women from fully enjoying their rights;

– The protection of the fundamental rights of children to grow up in a family environment, to receive nutrition, education and support, are duties of the family and society. Such duties must be guaranteed and protected so that they are not overlooked or denied to any child in any part of the world. All those practices that violate the dignity and rights of children must be denounced. It is equally important to be vigilant against the dangers that they are exposed to, particularly in the digital world, and to consider as a crime the trafficking of their innocence and all violations of their youth;

– The protection of the rights of the elderly, the weak, the disabled, and the oppressed is a religious and social obligation that must be guaranteed and defended through strict legislation and the implementation of the relevant international agreements.

To this end, by mutual cooperation, the Catholic Church and Al-Azhar announce and pledge to convey this Document to authorities, influential leaders, persons of religion all over the world, appropriate regional and international organizations, organizations within civil society, religious institutions and leading thinkers. They further pledge to make known the principles contained in this Declaration at all regional and international levels, while requesting that these principles be translated into policies, decisions, legislative texts, courses of study and materials to be circulated.

Al-Azhar and the Catholic Church ask that this Document become the object of research and reflection in all schools, universities and institutes of formation, thus helping to educate new generations to bring goodness and peace to others, and to be defenders everywhere of the rights of the oppressed and of the least of our brothers and sisters.

In conclusion, our aspiration is that:

this Declaration may constitute an invitation to reconciliation and fraternity among all believers, indeed among believers and non-believers, and among all people of good will;

this Declaration may be an appeal to every upright conscience that rejects deplorable violence and blind extremism; an appeal to those who cherish the values of tolerance and fraternity that are promoted and encouraged by religions;

this Declaration may be a witness to the greatness of faith in God that unites divided hearts and elevates the human soul;

this Declaration may be a sign of the closeness between East and West, between North and South, and between all who believe that God has created us to understand one another, cooperate with one another and live as brothers and sisters who love one another.

This is what we hope and seek to achieve with the aim of finding a universal peace that all can enjoy in this life.

Who are Gentiles or Non Believers of our time?

Saturday July 25, 2020
Feast of Saint James, Apostle

Scriptures2 Corinthians 4:7-15
Psalm 126:1-6
Matthew 20:20-28

You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them,
and the great ones make their authority over them felt.
But it shall not be so among you.
Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.
Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served
but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Who is a Gentile and what is the true meaning of a Gentile. In the old Testament the Non Jewish People were called Gentiles. In the New Testament Christians were called Gentiles by the Jews. Christians call  Gentiles for everyone who do not follow Jesus. Muslims call everyone who do not follow Mohammad’s teaching . Hindus call who do not follow Vedas and Purana’s as Gentiles . Gentiles are projected as  people who are destined to hell or deserve hell.

Jesus gives us the true meaning , or the definition of a Gentile in the Gospel. Gentile or a Non Believer is a person who seeks Worldly success or Worldly Prosperity or tries to stand first or to be recognized  in the Worldly standard or receive a Guinness award for life time Worldly achievement as their goal in life. The teachings of Jesus is great enlightenment or revelation for people who want to live a true life on this earth. The Christian life is not a superficial spirituality or in success and Prosperity but based only on love. The true meaning of love is the one who serves and lays his life for the good of others. This exactly what Jesus did in his life and want us to do in our life. St. Paul went through this servant attitude in his earthly life and became Victorious not living a superficial Spirituality but a Practical life of living  death in his earthly life so that he may live a Victorious life of  Spirit of love.

Following the World and its Prosperity and success  is an  idol  Worship. Every Individual whose actions are motivated towards  Worldly  and self success is an idol worshiper or a true Gentile or Non Believer of the true love or teachings or Gospel of love . In this Context it does not matter whether that individual is a Baptised or Non Baptised,Hindu or Muslim , Mother or Father or Priest or evangelist or Pastor or Industrialist or Politician or Social Worker or scientist or a physician or of any way of life, the simple definition of a true follower of Jesus or true follower of love is the one who lives in love  for others.

There are many unsung saints in our midst who work at the back ground who are real followers of Christ. On the day of judgement we will be surprised to see the people whom we thought Holy and deserved eternal life are rejected in the Holy Place and the people whom we call Gentles or deserve Hell are welcomed in the Holy Place of love.

Let look at our lives where are we , are we in the rat race of success and Prosperity of this Worldly life or we are people who strive and work to build a World of love and Charity by sacrificing our life for the good of others. When we talk of good of others , the goodness is not to give others the Worldly life but make other people loving people and people of dignity. Some Parents say we sacrificed our  whole life by making our Children great people of Worldly degrees and Success, this kind of sacrifice is self oriented and self motivated like the mother of James and John who wanted her Children to be seated one at right and left. But the Kingdom of love is to make our Children , Children of love and Charity and live a life of servant hood for the benefit of others. St. James became a Martyr and St. John was a great great Disciple of love.

Prayer : Lord Jesus , teach us to love others and die for others.Amen

Why we can not see the power of Gods love in our lives?

Thursday of the 16th Week of Ordinary Time
July 23, 2020

Today’s Readings:Jeremiah 2:1-3, 7-8, 12-13
Ps 36:6-11
Matthew 13:10-17
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven
has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted.

In Jesus time Hundred of thousands listened to Jesus in multitudes but very few of them believed his message and started following him or applied his message in their life. To Believe Jesus means to understand the message of love and apply that message of love in our daily life through actions. Many people came to Jesus to hear him , healed , delivered,  but only the Apostles and Disciples stayed back after listening to the message of love to know more of that message so that  they may understand in a deeper level and implement it in their life.This is the real meaning of believing Jesus . On the day of Pentecost only the Disciples received the gift of the Holy-spirit in a miraculous sign of the tongues of fire. There were hundreds of thousands listened to the Word of God but only 70 plus Disciples were filled with the Holy spirit. The message of love is Jesus himself and when we accept this message in our lives and live on that message of love , the Father , Son and Holy spirit descend upon us and lives in us and with us. This is the real meaning of Baptism in our life.

Jesus is same yesterday, today and forever , we hear him in our time through various medias like in Holy Eucharist, Catechism , Retreats, Preaching , So on but do we understand his message of love in deeper level and understand the true meaning and implement in our lives. If we do it then we can say that truly  we believe Jesus in our lives. If we believe Jesus or his message of love , it must pass on to us instantly. It is like connecting to the Electrical mainline and the Current passing on to the entire House. In the acts of the Apostles it happened on the day of Pentecost but in our time the act of Pentecost happens whenever we Believe and act on the message of love. The tongues of fire and all the gifts and fruits of the Holy spirit manifested to everyone who believed Jesus as a sign that the living God lived with them ,and it happens with us every time we believe in his love and act upon it by signs and wonders of God’s love.

Why we can not see the power of Gods love in our lives?  When we read or listen to the message of God or Bible , the message of love is only an imagination or feeling but when we reflect upon this love we enter in to a dialogue with this message of love and this dialogue challenges our lives , and when we accept this challenge by accepting it by acting upon it we enter in to a relationship of love and this is called what true believing in Jesus or listening to the Word of love means. When we just read or listen to the message of love and feel good and never make attempt to study, reflect and apply in our life the message remains in the air as an imaginary Jesus or a superficial Jesus who lives in the ferry tales of the Third  Heaven. Jesus is real and true living  God who lives with us and in us in our daily life like a true friend or love,  not in imagination or superficial spirituality but as a partner or a Spouse of our life. This partnership has to be experienced in a relationship of faith and love.

Charity is the true sign of Gods love in our life. A Charitable or service minded person carries Gods heart in himself. When we believe the message of love of God, the love of God gushes in to our heart in the form of the Holy spirit and transforms our heart in to his heart of love and this loving heart pours out to the Whole World in the form of Service and Charity. When we humble before God and one another, the mysteries of the Kingdom of love are revealed to us and these mysteries are our Vocation or calling or the Be attitudes of Jesus in our life. If we do not live a life of Charity and Be attitudes we are not in the Kingdom of God or we are people who have eyes and ears but but  can not see and hear as Isiah prophesied in his Prophesy in the old testament.

Prayer :

Lord Jesus open my eyes and ears to the message of love Amen.

Jesus is calling us to come out of the Nutshell of our families in to the Ocean of Community.

Micah 7:14-15,18-20
Ps 85:2-8
Matthew 12:46-50
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.

The word Community or Church is a workshop of love and Charity. Families are the smaller version of the Community. God pours out his love in to our hearts and the person who receives this love of God and cultivates it by witnessing  in his own family , the love multiplies in to various fruits of the love of God . The ministries start emerging from the love of God and eventually many ministries of love form a Community of love. God’s basic plan forHumans was to live in Gods love by sharing and caring with each other in Communities.

We can not hold or store Gods love like how we store Worldly  wealth in our families. Gods love is like Water , once it is full in ourselves and families,it must overflow in to others who need this love. This is also called Evangelisation    or Charity.  Both the Words are one and the same , the word of Evangelisation  is used theoretically to spread Gods love in Words and Charity is used  to spread Gods love in action. We must keep one eye on Gods Word and other eye by following it through our actions.

In today’s Gospel  Jesus is telling us how important it is to go beyond ourselves and our family and reach out to others in love. The Charity or evangelisation is a sign of  spiritual growth in us , a person of love always teaches others the Gospel  truth and lives that truth by loving them in Charity. When Jesus pointed out to disciples , he was pointing out to the people who have grown beyond themselves and families in love and were listening and following Jesus  to establish the Kingdom of love,joy and peace. These kind of people join in the family of Jesus and become the mother,Father,  brother, Sisters of Jesus in love and care. Jesus says Whatsoever you do to to the least of the brother or sister, you do to me.

Covenant Community living is the need of the hour to encounter every evil which has spread and infected  like Virus in our families, Societies, Church , Enterprises and Nations. The early Christians lived in small Christian Communities and there was not  a single person was in need because everyone shared whatever they had and no one called their possession as their own. When other Worldly Communities saw Christians living in selfless love,they got attracted and called the Christians or followers of Christ because Jesus himself went beyond his family and lived a Community life by offering everything he had , even to the point of death for his brothers,sisters and Mothers of Jerusalem.

Israel was a Community  God called apart to live in love but Israel never understood the concept of Community or selfless living but always lived in selfishness by collecting idols of wealth and following rituals. Christians are people of love and people of Community and we must come out of our narrow minded approach of self content and making our own families as an idol. We can not hold Gods love in ourselves and families but it must flow abundantly to others. If we force it , one day it will burst out like flood Water breaking all the pots and Containers of our family.

We must make our Children the instruments of Gods love and teach them to live a life of Community of loving and sharing in the early age. This life is  a real Christian life and not a Sunday christian who attends Sacraments as an obligation and in escapism. This Pandemic is the test of love , if we are confined to ourselves and our families , it is a sign that we are not a  adult Christian or grown up Christians and still drink milk like a one year old infant though we are grown in stature of wealth, Body, Education, Success and Knowledge.

Lord Jesus transform me in to a person of love and Charity. Amen

Family is the Workshop to test our love and Charity in our life.

Today’s Readings:Micah 6:1-4, 6-8
Ps 50:5-6,8-9,16-17,21,23
Matthew 12:38-42
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

What the LORD requires of you:
Only to do the right and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

God created Human  Being plain and simple, but Human has made himself  very Complicated with many desires and demands of this World. The purpose of creating the Human is very simple, just to love God by doing good and be right before him,through his righteousness and walk humbly before him, acknowledging his love as the source of our goodness, and not to walk in pride of self righteousness.

The so called HIFI Fundas and HIFI Gurus of our time made the religion ( purpose of our life ) so much complicated , the main essence of righteousness is missing in our life. Prophet Micah gives a simple definition to the Purpose of our life in the first reading. The God of love wants his children to walk in his shadow of love but people have time and again drifted away from his Shadow and lost in the rate race of the Worldly life. God of love gathers them time and again towards him but more he come near them, more they run away from him. We run away from the real love in to a artificial love of show off of the World.

The Lord has blessed us with a family and we are suppose to love them and nurture them by witnessing them in living in God’s love but we have forgotten our first and foremost calling or duty ,and involved in so many other activities like Prosperity, Education, Social Work, Evangelisation so on.  These activities are not bad but without following our basic call  to love our Lord in our families and jumping in to other secondary responsibilities are escapism from the reality . We want to wear a mask of a good man to the outside World with our BMW , Mercedes , PhD’s on our Collar and so called Social Worker or Preacher of the Word of  God, but if love does not exist in our own families , all the name and fame will be dumped at the rubbish Bin at the Kingdom of God or the day of judgement. On the day of judgement the question and answers to the test is based only on love and nothing else and if we think other things give us more marks then my friend it is time to  change your Tutor.  The best area to test our love of God and Neighbor is our own family , if we fail in this calling then we must pause and evaluate our life and  renew our life with love and become witness of Gods love.

When we teach our Children to love God , they point out at the Parents if they have lived themselves in love specially as Couples. If Couples fight at home , Children are definitely are going to notice and we can not be Hypocrites to teach them which we do not practice in our own life. If we practice love, our Children automatically become Children of love and there is no doubt in it. If someone has a doubt on this then they must evaluate their own life and not correct their Children but ask a question to themselves do I witness Gods love in my family. God straight looks at our heart and nothing else .

In this Pandemic  we have an opportunity to witness in our own families so let us take this time from the hands of God and turn back from our hypocrite life and live a life of love and righteousness by walking humbly before God and each other.

Prayer : Lord pour out your Spirit of Love in my heart so that I can love others Amen.

Intercession is an action of love relationship.

16th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 19, 2020

Today’s Readings: Wisdom 12:13,16-19
Ps 86:5-6,9-10,15-16
Romans 8:26-27
Matthew 13:24-43
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

For we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.

Prayer is a relationship and not some expressions by language or list of intentions. When a faithful soul or community of faithful souls enter in to a relationship with  God’s love, a communication or a interactions or a dialogue of two spirits take place and this dialogue is called Prayer. The Vocal form of Prayers are always patterned or obligatory or coming from our thoughts or mind and always deceptive and difficult to discern the intentions.

The Lords Prayer is a relationship , Jesus enters in to a relationship with the Father  in Love and exaltation. We can call it as a Praise and Worship and a dialogue of love of intercession. All Intercessions are charity or love comes out from the faithful Soul,  so when we enter in Praise , Worship, Repentance, and faith through the Word of God , Intercessions of love towards our Neighbor over flow from our heart and cries out to the Father of love in Sighs and groans expressed in pain.  These sighs  may not be uttered in Words but a state of great Sorrow and pain. The outpouring love is the Holy spirit who joins with our Spirit and purifies our intentions and offers them to the Spirit of God . The outward signs can be of same as the signs Jesus went through at the Garden of Gethsemane like tears , internal pain , great distress in Spirit, great grieve , normal sweat or sweat of blood or may lead to Stigmata like St.Francis the Assisi and Padre Pio .

All prayers of Jesus was a relationship with the Father , it may be prayer of Praise or thanksgiving or intercession or petitions or repentance. The language used in the relationship is not even a sign but only a media so we must be very careful when we do vocal prayers. If we evaluate the Prayer of Pharisee and Publican , the Tax Collector did not consider himself to  raise his eyes and beating his breast calls for mercy or enters in to a relationship with the Father in repentance but the Pharisee makes a big list of vocal prayer of all his good deeds. The publican went back justified and not the Pharisee. The Tax Collector by virtue was a sinner and broke the Commandments and deserved death and Pharisee kept all the Commandments and deserved life . The publican entered in to a relationship with the father  by humbling himself but the Pharisee  justified his actions in self righteousness. So the Prayer is an act of love or a relationship with the Father of love and when we enter in to this relationship , the love of God unites with the God of love and the Lord justifies us or a miracle takes place or we are made righteous or holy.

Gift of tongues is a Charismatic  intercessory gift which must be used for others for the purification of soul but not the same as What St. Paul talks about in today’s second reading. Gift of tongues must be used in love , and the utterances must be inspired by love, otherwise if we make some noise  in our mouth, it does not come from the Spirit but from our mind like any other noise or speech.

Prayer :  Lord teach us how to pray . Amen.

Love & Charity is the ultimate Fruit of all our Prayers and rituals of Faith.

Friday of the 15th Week of Ordinary Time
July 17, 2020

Today’s Readings:Isaiah 38:1-6, 21-22, 7-8
Isaiah 38:10-12, 16
Matthew 12:1-8
USCCB Podcast of the Readings:

In the Contemporary World the Spiritual dimensions  of  following God has been divided between faith and love. Let us understand these two dimensions which give us true understanding of our Religion or way of life or our belief. The simple meaning of  faith is “trusting relationship”  and when this trusting relationship establishes,  love emerges from this relationship. The prayers, sacrifices , Sacraments, Scriptures and rituals are the mediums or ways or signs which show , how to enter in to a trusting relationship. When a person walks through these ways by applying them in their daily life , he enter in to a relationship and the result of this relationship is love. This is the Chemistry or Theology or formula of Faith and love in any Spiritual life.

We must understand this Chemistry of love in a more profound way and let us look at the context of the teachings of Jesus . Jesus exposes the Pharisees their hypocrite way of the rules and regulation of Sabbath. Sabbath was designed to honor God by spending time with God by resting in his presence and  refresh our love. The purpose of Sabbath to refresh our love but the Pharisees gave priorities to the ways and rules of the Sabbath and the love of God was completely missing in the ritual of Sabbath. Temples , Liturgy, Scriptures are the mediums to enter in to a love relationship and refresh our love with the power of Divine love.

Jesus says in today’s Gospel,  he wants mercy and not Sacrifice. The Sacrifice is basically  is an act to show gratitude or thanksgiving to God’s love  but if the Sacrifice miss the main purpose of God’s love , the purpose of Sacrifice becomes a mere ritual. This even applies in our Prayers and Contemplative Spirituality. Prayer is an  act of love , if our prayer is merely a quoted words or claiming from the Scriptures without understanding the purpose of those scriptures then our claiming or quotes may become a demand notice.

Faith and love are one and the same. When we enter in to a trusting relationship we love everything including our enemies  or on all odd things of our life because our ultimate goal of life is love and not the weakness or shortcomings of this World. This is the ultimate purpose of Gods Creation of Humans in this World to love. When we love and show mercy we fulfill all the rituals, prayers and sacrifices because love is the fruit and the way to show faith is the seed , when the seed sprouts in to a trusting relationship, it disappears but the love remains forever. The Righteous is based on love , we are made righteous through the acts of Divine love. The self Sacrifice can be a act of self righteousness, if the love is missing in the action.

We see many people , Communities are  based on Sacrificial life but the ultimate purpose of love is totally missing , today Jesus speaks to  all of us I do not seek your Sacrificial life but a life full of Charity and love. Mother Theresa could not see this love in her Convent in which she lived, though the Community had Sacrificial Vows of Obedience, Chastity, Poverty but she could not see real love and Compassion towards their  neighbors. We see families live a sacrificial life ,not to give love to their spouse and children but to give them better life style , prosperity, richness, luxury and education. Today our Spouses and Children require love and not any other things in their life, we are so much wrong, we  seek love in the Worldly rituals and sacrifice our life by leaving their families and spouses for decades and  working for money for better lifestyle. Modern lifestyle can not produce love and all our Sacrifice will be a big waste when we realize our Children and spouses seeking love in other religions or ways of life who are more loving and merciful.

In this Pandemic the Lord is asking us to reflect upon our ways of our spirituality like our long prayers,  repeated prayers, prayers like a demand notice, sacrificial prayers, our rituals, our fasting, our claiming of Scriptures, Our Prophesies, Our messages . If these  ways do not lead us to the love of God, then in this pandemic we will not sit and pray but put our feet and money to help the poor and sick. Jesus is telling us to reflect upon the meaning of : God seeks mercy and not sacrifice.

Prayer : Lord Jesus open my eyes to the eyes of Mercy.Amen
