A YEAR ACCEPTABLE TO GOD – 2018

A YEAR ACCEPTABLE TO GOD – 2018

Revelations 3:20

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Years come and go, promises are made, fulfilled and broken. All these have become routine way of life. Sometimes we are winners and sometimes we are losers in the rat race of life. People plan their life to make it better every new year of life, but is really the life becomes better every year?  Psalm 90:4 says A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. God’s time and Worldly Calendar time can not be compared to each other. God’s plans and time is a mystery and is very difficult to understand by the human mind or by the human heart.

Jesus is the centre of God’s Calendar year and he changed the Calendar from Before Christ to After Christ. The purpose of changing the time not only related to the calculation of worldly rotations but bringing God’s time in to human Calendar. When we celebrate the birth of Jesus, a new Era begins with Jesus and it starts with Jesus and Jesus is the Centre of that Era. Jesus came in to this World just not to live his 33 years of Worldly years but to live in our hearts for ever. In Rev 3:20 he says he is standing at the door of every human life, any person accepts him and makes him the centre of his life, he will change him from human to divine. In divine Calendar there is no past, present and future but all times are one and still and can be seen in one view. This happens if we see things through Jesus in our life. John 15:5, Jesus says I am the Vine and you are the Branches, without me you can do nothing. Just like in in Solar system without Sun, the entire system is nothing, in the same way in Divine System without Jesus, all the spiritual ways are nothing.

When we enter in to a new year Jesus stands at the door of that New Year and waves at us to embrace him in that New Year because 2000 years ago every year was marked in his coming in to this World as a Saviour and redeemer of our life. He is being waving each year to take him onboard in our life. But what is the understanding of a New year to Christians and even non-Christians. Christians go to Mass or assemble in prayer and Non-Christians celebrate with dance and cheering themselves. Is this a ritual kind of things in this World every year? Jesus wants a change of heart, mind and Body so that he can come and dwell in us but our prayer services and assemblies have become outwardly ritual celebrations with many liturgies but  our hearts remains the same. Isiah 13:1-20 says:    13   Stop bringing meaningless offerings!
Your incense is detestable to me.
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—
I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
14 Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals
I hate with all my being.
They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.

Your hands are full of blood!

16 Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
17 Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.[a]
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

In year 2018, Jesus is calling you and me to have a close intimacy with him. If we are with him, he is asking us to be more closer and be one with him. Let us take this year as an opportunity to settle the matter with my and your God, once for all and then there will not be no more new years and all the years will be the same as this year because he is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Happy Jesus Year 2018.

Jesus is the eternal rest upon this Earth and heaven.

Behold, the Lord comes to save his people;
blessed are those prepared to meet him.

Today’s readings invite people to walk in God’s ways. Today’s World offer many ways of life but how to discern which way is the right way of life?  Jesus the Creator of Heaven and Earth became a Creation to show us the right way of life. Jesus lived in this Earth and by his Words and actions became a model to every believer. Jesus gave us a New way of life to love, forgive, suffer , expect the  reward not on this Earth but in Heaven  and live in his Words and Beatitudes.

Today Jesus calls all people who are engaged in the rat race of this World and learn from him the ways of eternal life. The ways of God are not burdened or heavy but light and not stressful. The suffering and persecution in God’s ways are part and parcel of life but they are  not stressful and burdened because we carry them through our Master Carrier who carried the Burdens of the entire World. In the first reading Isiah says he leads the army of each Creation and calls them by name so his Wisdom Power, understanding, Knowledge cannot be measured or can be understood.

If we have such a great God with us, then why do we caught up in the Rat Race of success and gathering of the Creation? Because these people have not experienced the love and grace of God. We see many Christians live in a stressful and great sufferings in their life. Why do they suffer and burdened heavily? Does Jesus put these burdens upon them?  The suffering and persecutions to walk in the Ways of God is  a way of beatitude taught by Jesus, but these sufferings and persecutions can not become heavy or burdensome if we carry or suffer Willingly for him alone.  If we offer these Persecutions and sufferings to the Cross of Christ, these very sufferings become a Sacrifice of thanksgiving, Sweet and Holy. God wants this kind of practical and meaningful prayer of thanksgiving.

We see many people live for Christ as Single and live in extreme circumstances throughout their life. These are the people who have experienced the real love of God and offered themselves as a gift of thanksgiving to God. Many married Christian Families struggle to bring up their families and Work in extreme circumstances and offer themselves as a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God.  Their main intention to build their family in Christian values so that the faith of Christ may pass on to the second and third generation. There is great joy and content and peace among these people which the World can not give them. But there are people who work for only for Worldly Success and Prosperity, these people’s intentions are self-Pride and acquisition of power and these kinds of People never experience the Joy and Peace of God but remain Burdened and stressful. There are Christians who pray only for prosperity and Acquisition of Worldly power, but these people remain beggars through out their life, running from one prayer group to the other for healing and prosperity but never live a life of Beatitudes and be a part of the Kingdom of God.  Jesus is loving, meek and humble and he wants us to be like him by relying on him and walking with him in every step of our life. He wants our entire life given in his hands.  When offer our life in his hands, he becomes the source of our lifer in all our sufferings or joy.  Jesus himself is the eternal rest and we can experience that eternal rest upon this Earth by surrendering our life un to him and resting with him alone.

Let us offer our life in the following Song of Prayer

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Advent is a time to recover our lost glory and live in his presence.

1st December – 2017

First Sunday of Advent:

Readings:

http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/120317.cfm

Be watchful! Be alert!

Today’s readings call us to be holy and acceptable to God in every moment of our life. There is no disobedience or a thought of negativity in Gods Kingdom. St. Paul says to grow in fullness of Christ with all spiritual gifts and Knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. In our spiritual journey, Jesus is the destination. Once we are revealed with the love of Jesus, then we become like him on this Earth.  The revelation of Jesus or we cannot see Jesus, if we are sinful or unholy. Church gives us a sacrament of Reconciliation to purge our sinfulness in repentance. Repentance is the first step to the Kingdom of God.  Once we are with the Holy Spirit , he bestows all the gifts and graces to see Jesus as he is. Jesus not a historical figure or a prophet or a man with Wisdom and Knowledge  but he is the destiny of every human being. The transformation experience in our life  in every moment  is each step taken in the Kingdom of God.

How we can be Holy and acceptable to God all the time? We must watch and pray and live a humble God centred life. Prayer is a Vitamin of Graces and humbleness is the supplement of spiritual strength which make sin proof or sin resistance. Though we are all around Sin, the grace of Christ protects us and keeps us away and resists the Sin from entering our life.

Advent for Christians is a time of preparation of his coming in our life either for the first time or daily in our life.  When we prepare fully, the King of glory will rise and reveal himself to us. Christmas is a milestone set by the Church, in remembrance of his first revelation as a human Jesus but in advent Jesus reveals himself who seek him in holiness. Faith becomes the anchor or steering of our life and love shows the way in darkness. We need to be in grace all the time so that we may feel his presence all the time in prayer and love. The gift of advent is the revelation of Jesus. There is gift other than Jesus in advent or Christmas. All other gifts are signs of Jesus love but not Jesus himself. Let us treasure hunt Jesus in this Advent journey with the help of word of God, Prayer, fasting, almsgiving, repentance and forgiveness and all the mysteries of the Kingdom of God will be revealed to us in the season of Advent and Christmas. Jesus the prince of Peace will give that peace and Joy in our heart which we never experienced before.
